"Phenomena of American culture in Bologna "
"Before" and "after" Professor Claudio Marra's Photography Course

We're in 1990. Italy is truly very different from what it is today.
The title of the contest "Phenomena of American culture in Bologna" says a lot.
I have a vague memory of the programmatic indications given.
But I retain the sensation of a calm and flat reflection.
Which nonetheless compels me to look at the city with a different gaze.
In search of one or more answers to that question and to the ones that follow in my mind.
For an academic year, I live in Bologna. I enroll in the Faculty of Philosophy and also attend the Academy of Fine Arts.
In particular, I attend Professor Claudio Marra's Photography Course. It's a significant formative experience that marks a clear line between "before" and "after."
The educational project will focus on investigating the language specific to photography in contrast to the "painterly" language of traditional arts.
The project I will present at the end-of-year exam will be the images with which I participate in the contest.
I will be the only one to show up, and the contest will be canceled. But I will pass the exam.
