He fell asleep deeply under the branches of a large fig tree.
"I'm hungry," he thought, closing his eyes.
While he slept, a drop of white latex slid along the green skin of a ripe fruit.
It slowed down at an open sore and loaded itself with very sweet serum. It stayed there for a few minutes. Finally, it embraced the force of gravity and fell onto his lips.
He dreamed of tasting a very sweet cream.
Then he woke up abruptly and waited for the evening watching the cars passing by.
When night came, he stripped the tree of its fruits.

Persimmons, loquats, grapes, figs, pomegranates, cherries, kiwis. But also grapefruits, lemons, mandarins.
We are in Milan. They are found in gardens, courtyards, cloisters, parks, tree-lined avenues, squares, on the outskirts of the city as well as in the center or along the railway.
But our well-being takes us elsewhere. To the store to buy the same things.
Most of the time they tell of a landscape and an older economy. Here there was a farmhouse. There a large courtyard. Today the common areas of a condominium or a public street.
"What could have happened to those fruits exposed to the rain of the city and the smog?" Of course: "It's prudent not to touch them." Most of the time we see them behind a wall or through the bars of a gate. Unreachable for those who would like to gather them. Food for birds.
A call to reflection and care for real things.
